Imagination tech talks - Novalia

We're currently running a series of talks to about new technologies and greatly enjoyed Dr Kate Stone and Chris Jones of Novalia visiting us last month to speak about printing electronics.

Instead of using costly and complex processes to manufacture electronics Novalia builds electronic circuits by printing conductive inks onto paper, plastic and card. Novalia showed us some great examples: a birthday card with twinkling LEDs which could actually be blown out like candles, an interactive poster which was in fact an MP3 player and a cardboard toy fire engine with flashing lights and sound effects. We're now all imagining how we could put these technologies to use.

Next up is Dr Jon Rogers from the University of Dundee. He'll be talking about designing and building "Physical Apps". The idea is to take information or data from the internet and connect that to a real world devices and objects. Stay tuned to this spot ...
